On Campus:

The MSU Student Food Bank

  • Provides free food packages and other household items for students in need
  • Available to all MSU students and visiting scholars who are enrolled during fall and/or spring semesters

MSU Scholarship Database

  • Can be used as an additional financial resource to indirectly assist students who may be food insecure
  • Qualifications for each scholarship differ

  • Go to mi211.org and enter the county where you are currently (MSU is in Ingham county) or dial 2-1-1 on your phone to find food assistance closest to you

Southside Community Kitchen

  • Free lunch time meals with no prerequisites, qualifying questions, or documentation needed
  • When: Monday - Thursday from 11:30 - 12:15 PM

Holt Community Food Bank

  • Available to students who are permanent residents of Holt
  • A current state of Michigan photo ID or driver’s license with your Holt address is required as proof of residency and for all food pick ups
  • When: Wednesdays from 9AM to 11 AM call 517-694-9307 to schedule an appointment for certification
  • Pick-ups are scheduled monthly

  • Available for students who are residents in the area of the Haslett School District

Immediate Food Assistance
  • Call the USDA National Hunger Hotline at 1-866-3-HUNGRY (1-866-348-6479) or 1-877-8-HAMBRE (1-877-842-6273). Information is available in English and Spanish. The hotline operates Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM Eastern Time
