Financial Donations:

All of the funds for distribution expenses are raised through charitable donations from organizations and community members like you! Because our food is purchased entirely through the generosity of individuals and groups like yourself, your monetary support is essential to the success of our service. The MSU Student Food Bank has a unique relationship with the Greater Lansing Food Bank that allows us to purchase food for an average of $0.45 per pound, saving us 72% compared to the national wholesale cost of food. This means that financial donations have a greater impact than food donations because we can buy significantly more food than the average consumer with the same amount of money. Financial donations are also preferable and encouraged because we have limited storage, we maintain a very small staff, and we cannot sort large food donations. The MSU Student Food Bank is a 501c (3) organization. All monetary donations are 100% tax-deductible.

Checks can be made payable to the MSU Student Food Bank, and mailed to us at:

Fundraisers and Food Drives:

If you belong to an organization or other appropriate group of people, sponsoring a fundraiser or canned-food drive to benefit the Student Food Bank can assist us in achieving our mission. Food can be dropped off at Olin Health Center at any time during normal business hours and can be left with the staff at the Olin reception desk just inside the main building entrance (http://www.olin.msu.edu/generalinfo/hours.htm).
